About Me

My photo
The RIFFED Librarian
In education, you don't get laid off, your get RIFFED. RIF stands for Reduction In Force. I lost my media specialist job of 23 years in a Reduction In Force in 2010. My life's work and my identity were literally RIFFED away from me. In response I began this blog and became the RIFFED librarian. In the summer of 2012 I accepted a job as a media specialist in a middle school. I soon learned that the only way this school was able to continue to have a licensed media specialist was if that person also taught the nine week 5th and 6th grade research/keyboarding class. I hung in at this job for nine years and enjoyed every minute I was able to spend in the library. Due to health issues I retired early - in 2021. Still, in my heart I will always be a librarian!
